F3-Euroseries, Regulations 2005

Engines
The engines must originate from a production power unit, which was built at least 2,500 times within twelve consecutive months. Only material may be removed during adaptation to suit the regulations. Maximum number of cylinders: four. Maximum capacity: Two litres. Bore and stroke are free. Only four stroke engines without any form of supercharging are permitted. The use of magnesium is forbidden. The diameter of the mandatory intake air restrictor is 26 mm. During a Formula 3 season, an engine may only be changed without penalty twice. Mandatory catalytic converters in accordance with DMSB.

Tyres
In the Formula 3 Euro Series, tyres produced by KUMHO (Type Ecsta S 700) are mandatory. Dimensions: 180/550 R13 on the front axle, 240/570 R13 on the rear axle. Tyre manufacturer Kumho is the exclusive tyre supplier of the series. The number of slick tyres per season is limited to 60 sets for each team. Every team must not use more than three sets of new slick tyres per race weekend. Races held in the rain (declared “wet race” by the organizers) do not impose any tyre limit. Any chemical or mechanical treatment of tyres is not permitted. Tyre heaters are must not be used.

Electronics
Standardised Electronic Bosch Motronic MS 3.1. Telemetry and electronic driver aids (Traction control/ABS) are forbidden.

Wheels
The wheels must be a maximum of 11.5 inches wide, the maximum diameter is 13 inches on both the front and rear axles.

Safety
A retention system made from Kevlar rope for the wheels and suspension links is mandatory on the suspension. A stepped fioor crash box is mandatory at the front. Roll-over structures, the roll-over bar and the monocoque sides must pass a crash test. During an event the changing of a monocoque is strictly forbidden.

Gearbox
From 2005 onwards, in order to avoid extensive testing and the incurring expenses, every team has to declare on entry which gearbox they will use to contest the season

Free practice
Between 60 and 90 minutes on the first day of the event (usually on Friday).

Qualifying
Two sessions of 30 minutes each. First qualifying on Friday determines the grid of the second race to be held on Sunday. Second qualifying is set for Saturday morning and establishes the starting order of the first round to be held on Saturday afternoon.

Races
One race on Saturday and one race on Sunday. Each round covers a maximum of 80 kilometres or 30 minutes. Standing Grand Prix-style start, no mandatory pit stops.

Drivers' classification
The are no results being dropped from the final overall classification, every round is being taken into account. The drivers achieving the maximum number of points is awarded the title “Winner of the 2004 Formula 3 Euro Series”. Points are being allocated for the first eight positions of each round according to the following system: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1. One additional point is being awarded for the pole position of each race.

Further classifications
Further classifications of the Formula 3 Euro Series include a Rookies Cup, a Manufacturers' Classification for engine suppliers and a Nations' Cup.

Prize money
The winner of each round will be awarded 1,000 Euros, the second driver 800 Euros, the third driver 600 Euros etc. For the 2004 Drivers' Cup, a total of 30,000 Euros will be distributed. The vice champion receives 20,000 Euros, the third overall will be awarded 10,000 Euros. The best Rookie (newcomer) receives 10,000 Euros.

Testing
Tests are only allowed on tracks that hold an official F3 race permission.
