Marlboro Masters of Formula 3 - Circuit Park Zandvoort - Race Round-Up

On this second weekend of June, on the Dutch circuit of Zandvoort the traditional Marlboro Masters of Formula 3 took place.
In this first international race of the year there were thirty-seven competitors and our drivers had good performances on Saturday. A possible good position was affected by two mistakes made by Franck Perera and Marco Bonanomi. Greg Franchi, instead, was forced to start from the back due to the change of engine after yesterday's qualifying session.
In the two sessions of free tests our drivers tried to improve to set up to get ready for the qualifying sessions. The thirty-seven drivers were divided into two groups for a better development of the sessions. In the group of the odd numbers Marco finished in fifth overall position, only 5/100 of a second from the third place. In the group of even numbers Franck was third, while Greg , who had problems with the engine, finished the session in the eleventh place. Unfortunately in the race there was a bad start for Marco and Franck. Marco was absorbed by the group and Franck lost two positions. Both of them recovered several positions and Marco finished eighteenth while Greg was twenty-first. Perera ended in the eighth place.

Davide De Gobbi, Prema Team Manager said: "It was a pity to lose two possible good positions due to a mistake at the start. Together with the drivers we worked very hard and I am sure that the effort carried out will give us satisfactions. Now, we must forget this event and concentrate on the future of the Championship.

Marco Bonanomi: "It was a pity to lose a possible good result owing to a wrong start.

Greg Franchi: "I am really sorry. I was forced to start from the back for the break and subsequent change of the engine. In the qualifying session I could have been among the first ten. Now, we must continue working in the same way and try to overcome this difficult situation.

Franck Perera: "The qualifying session was good. Unfortunately, I did not have a good start and was overtaken by two drivers. Now it is time to forget this race and star working hard to be real protagonists in the next appointments of the Championship."
