Formula-3-Italia, Race 3, Magione, Press Release Team Coloni
Race 3
26/27-04-2003
Track: Magione
Coloni Motorsport in the front rows of the starting grid in the third date of the Italian F.3 Championship in Magione thanks to Marco Bonanomi.

With an excellent time of 1.07,1 Marco Bonanomi and Coloni Motorsport conquered the second row of the starting grid in the first date of the Italian F.3 Championship on Magione track. The young Italian yet from the free practice showed to be very competitive, running in the first positions, and today too he confirmed his good performances: in the morning session he obtained immediately his best time, even if a mistake on the Montesperello corner stopped him for the rest of the session, don’t’ allowing him to run again before the afternoon session. In the afternoon, utilizing old tyres, Marco was again one of the fastest drivers, but he couldn’t improve his time unlike his opponents that still had new tyres to use.

An unlucky day instead for Christian Montanari: after having lapped without problems in the morning session, in which he decided not to use his new tyres set, a technical trouble, that kept him from running with the new tyres, stopped Montanari. Christian couldn’t so improve his 1.07,4 time, which will allow him Sunday to start from the ninth position. But Christian, as in Misano, showed to be capable of great starts, even from not favourable positions.

Coloni Motorsport yet looks forward to Sunday race, thanks to the results achieved also in the qualifying session and can so aim again to obtain great results on the “home” circuit of Magione.

Marco Bonanomi, driver: “I’m very happy with the car, we continue to develop her and to work well. I’m a little disappointed for the mistake I made in the morning, I could have aimed straight to the pole position. In the second session I ran with old tyres and we tested also new aerodynamic solutions that gave good results, we were the fastest team with the old tyres. Sunday I’ll do the best I can and I will be very careful of avoiding the mistakes made in Binetto and Misano, I’m sure that we will get good results”.

Christian Montanari, driver: “I will start from the middle of the grid, unfortunately this will be a difficult race. We didn’t find immediately the right setup and so I will start from a not so good position, but I’m however sure that we will obtain good results. We’ve also to wait for the warm-up, today we yet found more performing solutions and we can look forward to the race”.
