HOME I F3 ITALY I 2003 I

15.05.2003

Coloni Motorsport between Austria and Imola:
All is ready for the fourth Italian Formula 3 race.

(lel)This week end will be very exciting for Coloni Motorsport, busy on two fronts: on the one hand the F.I.A. F.3000 International in Austria (A1-Ring), on the other hand his young talents of the F.3 Team, Marco Bonanomi and Christian Montanari, will chase after the first victory in F.3 in Imola after the two great podiums taken in Binetto and Magione, the first for the new Lola-Dome F106 Mugen in Europe.

Coloni Motorsport and his drivers prepared with care the Imola date: in the past week Montanari and Bonanomi were in Magione in order to develop further the F106 and to test new technical solutions for the fourth race of the Italian F.3 Championship.

Christian Montanari (RSM), after his first F.3000 test, worked hard to prepare with particular care the Imola race: this will be in facts his “home” race and many of his compatriots will be present to support and driving him to the success.

Marco Bonanomi and Christian Montanari will be on track Friday for the free practice in sight of the double qualifying session of Saturday; Sunday the race will start at 12 hours.

Paolo Coloni, Team Principal: “Imola will be an important test for our drivers: first of all, because is one of the F.1 Championship tracks and then is one of the best tracks to check the quality of our cars. Therefore Imola is the track of San Marino and then is the home track for Christian Montanari and I know that it will have a particular meaning for him. The whole team is confident because the single-seater is very effective on a middle-fast track like Imola thanks to the excellent work done by the constructors in the wind-gallery and the Mugen-Honda engines of the Neil Brown Engineering are always capable of very good performances. We have not to forget the value of our young drivers that after only three races gave to Coloni and to the new F106 two podiums”.

Christian Montanari, driver: “I’m very confident, we saw great improvements in the car and so I hope to redeem myself after the Magione race. Seeing the car potential, especially on fast tracks, I think that we’ll get good results. I care about it for two reasons: first because I like this circuit and I know it very well; second because Imola is my home race”

Marco Bonanomi, driver: “It’s an important race, because the fight for the championship is not over. I’ll do my best to score an excellent result and made up positions in the drivers standings. Imola is one of the most beautiful tracks in the Italian championship, it’s possible to overtake, there are fast corners and the F106 will get for sure good outcomes in a circuit like this”.
