Coloni Motorsport at work in Magione (I). First steps in F.3000 for Christian Montanari!

For Coloni Motorsport the Barcelona week end is not completely to forget: the winner in fact was Giorgio Pantano and together with him on the podium was another Italian, Enrico Toccacelo, the two Coloni-drivers of the 2002 season, launched on the international motor sport scene by the Italian team and selected thanks to the support of the CSAI (the sport branch of the Italian Automobile Club) Federal School and the prestigious weekly-mag AUTOSPRINT. This is an evident sign that the Coloni Motorsport’s program tended to help and show off the young Italian drivers worked well and still is continuing to work, we have only to think, apart from Pantano and Toccacelo, to the drivers who participated to the 2002 “Supertest”: Tonio Liuzzi, who took the 4th place in his F.3000 debut in Imola and one of the best rookies; Alessandro Piccolo, arrived in the F.1 feeder category; Giammaria Bruni, recent winner in the Euro 3000 Series race at Nuerburgring and Matteo Grassotto, 3rd again at Nuerburgring. We have then not to forget the two young sprouts of Coloni Motorsport in F.3, Marco Bonanomi and Christian Montanari, who gave the first two podiums in Europe to the new Lola-Dome F106/03.

For what concerns more strictly the track-activities, after having carefully analyzed the cars in the wake of the unlucky Barcelona week end, Coloni Motorsport, thanks to the precious technical support of his suppliers and to the analysis work of the telemetry data done by his technician, moved today, May 7th, on the Magione track (Italy) in order to check and solve the troubles occurred in Spain. For the first time Christian Montanari, one of the F.3 Coloni’s drivers, drove the 3-litres Lola-Zytek. Christian wasn’t frightened by the new single-seater and quickly familiarized with the car, obtaining immediately excellent times and giving a precious contribution to the analysis-process of what happened the past week.

Coloni Motorsport activities in this short test in Magione weren’t restricted to F.3000: in fact also Marco Bonanomi was on track. The young Italian, after the second place took in the third race of the Italian F.3 Championship, returned in Magione to continue the development of the new Lola-Dome single-seater for the next race in Imola (May 18th).

Coloni Motorsport will go back in Magione again the next week for another test to check the new technical solutions prepared in sight of the next F.1 and F.3000 GP on the A1 Ring (A).
