            Addict
              Mobile Formula 3 Grand Prix:
              Sunday Race Day Report
              June 22, 2003
              Race 1
            BATANGAS,
PHILIPPINES- Race one of the Addict Mobile Formula 3 Grand Prix
saw Jojo Silverio (Castrol Ambi Pur Car Team Goddard) on pole position
of the grid. Sitting next to him on the front row was young gun,
Enzo Pastor (Casino Filipino Fujitsu Ten Team Tom's Petron). Mark
Goddard, the reigning AF3 Series champion, sat in third. Pace setter
during the practice sessions, Pepon Marave (Shell Casino Filipino
FILA Team Tom's), due to transmission troubles, started at the back
              of the grid.
Right at the start of the race, Pastor launch his Dallara F398 like
a drag racer, and took first place at the first turn. Silverio,
with a lack luster start, followed, with his team mate, Mark Goddard,
falling in behind him. Pastor and Silverio went at it for several
laps, with the newcomer leading the way. Then, when an openning
showed itself, the veteran Silverio, passed Pastor for the lead.
With the pressure of staying on pace with the former 2001 AF3 Series
champ, Enzo makes a mistake which allowed Silverio to extend his
              lead.
            Meanwhile,
Pepon Marave was picking off the drivers that sat in front of him
at the grid. One by one, he passed them with little effort. Within
a few laps, Pepon was in 4th place and pressuring Goddard who was
in 3rd. Coming down the main straight, Marave gets a good run and
passes Goddard. His next victim was Enzo. By mid race, Marave was
barking at the heels of Silverio, challenging for the lead. Getting
a good run down the straight, Marave claimed the lead at the first
              corner and never looked back.
            At
the middle of the pack, Richard Joson (DENSO JF3 Racing), Mike Potenciano
(Shell Casino Filipino FILA Team Tom's) and Roland Hermoso, the
Petron sponsored driver, (Speedtech Asia) were locked in a good
battle. Hermoso, also a rookie in the AF3 Series, pits in due to
an engine misfire. For most of the race, Joson and Potenciano were
nose to tail until Joson found an opportunity and dispatched Potenciano.

              Race 2
            Now
sitting at the front of the field, due to his race win, was Pepon
Marave (Shell Casino Filipino FILA Team Tom's). Next to him in the
front row, was Jojo Silverio (Castrol Ambi Pur Car Team Goddard).
            Leading
the way in to the first corner was Pepon Marave. After another "not
so good" start, Silverio saw himself being passed by his team
mate, Mark Goddard at the first corner. Upon entering the 3rd turn,
Goddard late brakes and passes Marave for the lead. Going not to
tail for many laps, Marave and Goddard gave the crowd a great show!
Clearly, Marave had the pace to pass Goddard, but the 2002 AF3 Series
champion put his extensive racing experience to use and defended
every corner. This battle ensued until Pepon spun his car in the
middle of the chicane that leads to the fast sweeper. "There
was dirt on the track (caused by a Formula Toyota that spun earlier)
so the back end just came out." said Marave.
            Meanwhile,
Silverio and Pastor were battling behind the front runners. The
rookie Pastor kept his cool and waited for right time to pass Silverio.
Roland Hermoso was just a few seconds behind this duo.
            In
the end, Mark Goddard claims another win for the Castrol Ambi Pur
Car Team Goddard camp. Crossing the line several seconds behind
him was Enzo Pastor (Casino Filipino Fujitsu Ten Team Tom's Petron),
then Jojo Silverio (Castrol Ambi Pur Car Team Goddard).
